Nancy Gerilyn Kennedy Smithson, 69, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 15, 2025, at her home along side her husband.

She was born on August 19, 1956, in New Jersey to the late Joseph and Ruth Pike Kennedy. Mrs. Smithson retired in 2002 from Bank of America. After retirement, she worked alongside her husband, Smitty, at their business, Smitty’s Consolidated Marine Service. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville. She enjoyed shopping, especially from Amazon, and scrapbooking, but mostly taking care of her two beloved grandchildren, Layke and River. Mrs. Smithson loved her family and kept everyone in line with lots of love.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Kennedy.

She is survived by her loving husband, William “Smitty” Smithson; son, Jordan Smithson, and wife Carrie; sisters, Kathleen DiPippo and husband Gary, Arlene Kennedy, Karen Kennedy, Debbie Roth and husband Dave; brother, Joseph Kennedy, and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Layke and River; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in New Jersey where she grew up and in North Carolina at a future date.
