Mary Ruth Morrison Lipe, 93, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025. She had a gentle and loving spirit, and lived a life marked by kindness, patience, and humility.

Mary Ruth was born on September 24, 1932, to George Pressley Morrison and Alice Amanda Gabriel Morrison. She was the only daughter among seven boys, a role she cherished throughout her life.

In 1950, she married Robert Houston “Bob” Lipe, and they shared 52 years of marriage until his passing in 2002. Together they had one daughter, Marsha Lipe Brown, who preceded Mary Ruth in death earlier this year.

Mary Ruth retired from Troutman Industries in the 1980s after 30 years of dedicated service. She later worked for several years at Cairn Studios. She was a lifelong member of Berea Baptist Church, where she served faithfully and humbly for many years prior to the COVID pandemic.

In addition to her husband and daughter, she was preceded in death by her parents and all seven brothers: Pressley, Buddy, Hoyt, Winston, John T, Thad, and Garry Morrison. There is surely rejoicing in their Heavenly reunion!

She is survived by her grandchildren, Jason Pope and Amanda Byrd (husband Tim); her great-grandchildren, Kristalyn Stanley (husband Jon), Ava Street, Kirk Street, and Kaylee Byrd; and two great-great-grandsons.

A funeral service celebrating Mary Ruth’s life will be held Saturday, December 20, at 12 noon at Berea Baptist Church, 1015 River Highway, Mooresville. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service at 11 a.m.

Though we grieve her passing, we rejoice in the legacy she leaves behind- a legacy of love, patience, humility, faith, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
