Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department personnel, along with firefighters from Shepherds, Statesville and Rowan Iredell fire departments and Iredell County EMS & Rescue Squad, were alerted for a structure fire on Mocksville Highway about 9:41 a.m. Tuesday. Arriving firefighters were met with heavy fire through the roof in the rear of the two-story home and a working fire was transmitted.

All occupants and their pets were able to get out of the home safely. Crews stretched two hose lines and attacked the fire, which was placed under control at 10:01 a.m. Cool Springs VFD Chief Andy Webster was in command of the operation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
