Edward “Jr” Wright, 72, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born June 28, 1953, in Alexander County, the son of the late Luther Dula and Edna Allen Wright.

Edward had worked for Arthur C. James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, for over 30 years. He was a member of Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he sang in all the choirs, was a Sunday school teacher, usher board member, and member of the All Men’s Group. He loved basketball, dancing, and shopping at the Goodwill store. He was friendly and was liked by all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward “Eddie” Wright.

Those left to cherish and honor Edward’s memories include his daughters, Qulisa Denise Wright of Whitehall, Ohio, and Davis Marie Penn of Columbus, Ohio; his sons, Edward Dewayne Wright of Columbus, Ohio, and Damon William Wright of California; his grandchildren, Mark Wright, Qatrina Wright, Damon Wright Jr., Columbus Wright, Quincey Collier, and Cheryl Lynn Wright; his sisters, Norma Merith, Jacqueline Wright, Belinda Wilson, Antonia Shepherd, Pamela Glover, and Stacey Wright; his brothers, Theodore Wright, Jerald Wright, and Odell Dula; special friend, Maryellen McKeag; the Goodwill staff; special cousins, Larry and Francine Teague, Janice “Winky” Gilliam, and Renay Zackery, whom he loved to travel back and forth to Columbus, Ohio with, Laronya Teague, and Garfield Teague; and a number of other relatives and friends.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
