Donnie Ray Flowers, 68, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Donnie was born January 18, 1957, in Alexander County, the son of Bessie Flowers. He was a 1975 graduate of Alexander Central High School and spent much of his working life serving others as a dietitian, a caregiver, and in the everyday ways that often matter most. He also enjoyed working with flowers, finding something steady and good in tending to what grows.
If you knew Donnie, you knew his humor, and you knew that laugh. It was infectious, the kind that showed up before the punchline and lingered after it, easing a room and reminding people they were not alone. When he was able, he had a quiet habit of showing up in practical ways: offering rides, helping people get where they needed to go, and doing what he could with what he had.
Donnie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eubert (Della) Flowers; his brother, Raymond Flowers; his sister, Linda Denise Flowers; his special cousin, Allen Flowers; and his uncles, J.D. Campfield and Tommy Gore.
Those left to cherish Donnie’s memories include his mother, Bessie Flowers; his brother, Duncan Flowers; his sister, Eugenia Flowers Davis (Sherman Davis); his aunt, Mary Flowers Gore; special great-nephews, Dreyshon Abarado, Lupe Abarado, Gideon Hunter, and Zephaniah Flowers; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry his memory forward with love.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sterling Howard officiating and Rev. William Little delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Home FBH Cemetery.
