The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help locating a missing woman.

Betty Barlowe Avnet, 74, suffers from a cognitive impairment. She was last seen leaving her home on Knoxview Lane near Mooresville on foot at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Avnet is approximately 5-foot 3-inches tall, weighs about 112 pounds, has shoulder-length white hair, and wears glasses. At the time she was last seen, she was wearing jeans, a burgundy and navy striped shirt, a dark gray sweater, and black slip-on shoes.

There is heavy fog in the area tonight, making travel on roadways especially dangerous, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Please be extremely vigilant while driving and watch carefully along roads, sidewalks, and neighborhoods.
