Paul Lee Davidson, 66, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully at the Gordon Hospice House on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years, Sandra Morrison Davidson.

Paul was born on July 24, 1959, in Statesville to the late John W. Davidson Sr. and Dorothy Albea Davidson. As a youth, he proudly earned his Eagle Scout Award with Troop 178, fostering a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. Paul graduated from Statesville Senior High School in 1977, where he played football and wrestled. He went on to earn his degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Paul was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending much of his time with his children and later his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his daughter Christina “Christy” Davidson Trimmer (Dan) of Charlotte, N.C., and son CDR William Lee Davidson (Amanda) of Leonardtown, Md.; and four grandchildren, Connor Davidson, Graham Trimmer, Tucker Davidson, and Caroline Trimmer.

Paul was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Statesville, where he previously served as a deacon and treasurer. He remained active with Scouts throughout his life, serving as Cub Scout Leader of Pack 159, and Assistant Scoutmaster and Treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 348. He was selected for the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America.

Paul served as Treasurer for the Statesville Breakfast Civitan Club and was awarded Civitan of the Year. He was a long-time member of Iredell-Statesville Coin Club, where he served on the Board of Directors and as Secretary, and the North Carolina Numismatic Association.

Paul worked as a Regional Tax Manager for the N.C. Department of Commerce, Division of Employment Security, until his retirement in 2021. He had a passion for traveling with his wife, visiting more than 20 countries together.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church in Statesville with Rev. Jeremy Cannada officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County as well as the nurses at Atrium Health Infusion Center that compassionately cared for Paul during his treatments. Special thanks go to Lauren, Sherri, Heather, Sarah, Nadia, Christy, Laura and Annie-Kate.
