J.Q. Norman Jr. was born in Iredell County, N.C., on November 3,1942, to the late J.Q. Norman Sr. and Flora Bratton Norman. He entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C. His wife, Carrie Bell Ballard Norman; two brothers, Marvin Norman and Renard Carlton; four sisters, Mary Helen Wimbish, Alma Sue Norman Ramsey, Jo Evelyn Morrison, and Nevada Parker; a sister-in-law, Mary Mayfield; three brothers-in-law, George Kennedy, Larry Morrison and Dr. John Lee Parker, all preceded him in death.

J.Q. attended Unity High School in Statesville, and he loved baseball and wrestling. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he served on the Usher Board, and as a Trustee. J.Q. will truly be missed.

He leaves to cherish the memories of his life one son, Dwayne Norman of Statesville, N.C.; one brother, Ervin (Paulette) Norman of Elkin, N.C.; one brother-in-law, Clarence Wimbish of Atlantic City, N.J.; three sisters, Flora C. Kennedy of Lakewood, N.J., Jo Ann (William) Thomas of Charlotte, N.C., and Queen E. (Wayne) Morrison of Catawba, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Norman of Statesville, N.C., and Margaret Williams of Georgia; and a special niece, Tosura Camp; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul at The Lake on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Pastor Charles Young will deliver the eulogy, and Reverend Will Green will officiate.
