Walter Harry Fosbenner, 91, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2025. He lived a long and meaningful life. Born on February 27, 1934, in King of Prussia, Pa., Walt developed a strong work ethic at an early age while helping his father at their family-owned service station. Those early years taught him the value of hard work and taking pride in a job done right — principles that guided him throughout his life.
He served in the United States Navy, stationed at the Brunswick, Maine, Naval Air Station (NAS Brunswick). Following his service, he continued his working life with the same consistency and dependability he had learned as a young boy. He became a private pilot and flying instructor and even lived and worked in Belize for some time. After returning to Pennsylvania, Walt built his own modular construction business that he ran for many years in the Philadelphia, Pa./New Jersey area. He later retired in 1999 in Mooresville, N.C.
Throughout his life, Walt found joy in life’s simple pleasures — meaningful conversations, the mechanics of a car, planes, travel and sweets. He leaves behind many memories shared with loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sande Fosbenner; four daughters, Debbie Heller, Heather Cook, Amy Hollinger and Alison Burton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his sister, Norma DeWitt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Harry and Clara Fosbenner; his sisters Jaye Eliasson, Marty Mann, Virginia Fosbenner; and daughter, Jackie Casmay.
The family is currently making plans for a Celebration of Life. Further details will be shared soon.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or Lake Norman Humane.
Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the family of Mr. Fosbenner. Condolences may be made to the family at www.cavin-cook.com.
