Mooresville Fire-Rescue and Shepherds Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a structure fire at Republic Recycling off McKenzie Road about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday. Arriving units reported heavy smoke coming from the large commercial structure with all workers accounted for. A second alarm was transmitted, summoning additional Mooresville and Shepherds units, along with crews from South Iredell, Mount Mourne and Statesville fire departments. Iredell County EMS also responded to the scene.

The fire was brought under control at 4:28 p.m. with crews remaining on the scene to hit hot spots and ventilate the large building. No injuries were reported. Fire Marshal’s office investigators were at the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
