Janet Harris Buie, 77, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville.

She was born on February 27, 1948, in Missouri to the late Arnold and Lula Bowman Harris. Mrs. Buie was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Mooresville, where she enjoyed being with her Sunday School class. Janet had an infectious spirit that brought joy to everyone she encountered. Known for her warm personality, she thrived in the company of family and friends, always eager to share beautiful flowers from her husband’s cherished garden. Her love for nature and its beauty was matched only by her love for her fur babies, who were her constant companions and sources of joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Smith; and brother-in-law, Jim Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Don B. Buie; daughters, Melaine Zeigler (Scott) and Donna Austin (Randy); grandchildren, Stad Zeigler (Shimara), Hayden Zeigler (Delaney), Meredith Tino (Ryan), and Ryan Austin; great grandchildren, Aiden and Brooklynn Tino; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 14, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
