Betty Jo Ellis Seymore of Statesville, N.C., passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born in Iredell County on March 16, 1939, to the late Henry Roy Ellis and Myrtle Thomas Ellis.

Betty attended Unity High School in Statesville and was the salutatorian of her class. She was a devoted member of Logan Presbyterian Church for 37 years, serving as a member of the church choir and as Secretary of the Presbyterian Women.

Betty is survived by her children, Raymond Seymore (Cynthia), Patricia Bailey Cole (Raymond), and Cassandra Dye (Rev. Perry Dye); her sister, Mildred Ellis; her grandchildren, Shanelle Bailey, Lavette Seymore, Dr. Lawanda Rayner (Terrance), Rudolf Seymore, Tamica Seymore, Lakisha Freeman (Robert), Derris Bailey (Stephanie), and Patrick Cole; as well as 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at Logan Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with Reverend Olen Bruner officiating. Interment will follow at Logan Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
