Steven Clay Hager, 75, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on May 30, 1950, at Lawrence Hospital in Mooresville to the late Russell Morris Hager and Joyce Amelia Hager.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Michael Hager, and sister-in-law, Shirley Hager.
He is survived by his sisters Bonnie Loftin (Rodney) and Sherri Jackson (Robert); daughters, Crystal Jackson and Tammy Towe (Johnny); grandchildren, Andy Cline (Jessica), Bailey Jackson (Katie), Blake McHargue, and Bailey Towe; great grandchildren, Ashtyn Cline, Logan Cline, Cadence Hartness, Rhett Jackson, Oliver Jackson, Xander McHargue, and Tazzen McHargue; and several nieces and nephews and his special companion Bucky.
He worked over 30 years as a weaver in the Textile Industries until he retired.
A day did not go by without him watching his western movies and Friday night wrestling. He loved working in his garden and sharing all his vegetables. He loved the outdoors and being on his tractor, fishing, trips to the beach with his daughters, and he always looked forward to Sunday lunches with his daughters.
He was always tough and honest but would help anyone who was in need. He didn’t always show his love with words but he showed it with his good-hearted actions.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 19, at Whitman Baptist Church in Mooresville.
