
Linwood Barrie Moore, 81, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at his home. He was born September 7, 1944, in Wake County, the son of the late Tolley Greene Moore and Geneva Upchurch Moore.
Linwood proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a member of Three Forks Baptist and attended Fairview Baptist Church. In his earlier years, he operated gas stations in Wake Forest, and prior to that he worked for Wake Forest Cotton Mill and for the North Carolina Prison System. Later in life he owned his own business, Moore’s Wholesale. He was a jack-of-all-trades.
Linwood loved his dog, Cola, and his previous dogs, Polar and Dinky. He loved to travel. He was a good salesman, and loved making a deal. He was hardworking, a people person, and would give you the shirt off his back and was very caring.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Todd Barrie Moore; sisters, Mildred Grennier and Vivian Radford; and brothers, Alvin Moore, William Tilley, Raymond Tilley, and Robert Elton Moore.
Those left to cherish and honor Linwood’s memories include his wife of seven years, Minnie Levan Moore; his daughter, Amanda Moore Browning (Joseph); his step-sons, Lynn Levan (Mona) and Michael Levan (Tammy); his granddaughter, Grace Browning; his brothers, Maynard Moore and Harold Moore (Rhina); his sister-in-law, Sylvia Moore; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Fairview Baptist Church with a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Pastor Durrant Barr will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Youngsville, N.C.
