
Geneva Mae Bryant Handy, 97, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.
She was born on January 18, 1928, in Bassett, Va., to the late Robert and Nina Blackwell Bryant. Mrs. Handy enjoyed shopping, working in her yard and flower garden, especially mowing, baking cakes, going to church, and being with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Crook and Harry Handy; son, Howard Lee Crook; and special friend, Louise.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Stone and Shirley Carpenter; sister, Dorothy Clark; grandchildren, Howard Lee Crook Jr., Ernie Wimbish (Donna) and Timothy Wimbish (Hillary); nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and special friends, Faye, Lucille, and Charleen.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 30, at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, Va.
