Joan Wood Coombe, 83, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026. She was born on December 8, 1942, in Potsdam, N.Y., to the late Harold and Catherine Haley Wood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Louis Z. Coombe, and sister, Martha Wood.

Those left to cherish Joan’s memory are her children, Jonathan Louis Coombe (Sharon), Jennifer Edwards and Jeffrey Coombe; brother, John Wood (Alice); sister Mary Beth Johnston; grandchildren, Ryder Edwards, Mason Edwards, Jaxon Coombe, and Jakob Coombe; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
