Town of Troutman Board of Adjustment
Voluntary Appointed Position-$0.00 Annually
Position: Alternate (ETJ)
Term Length: 2 Years
Overview & Purpose: The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals of zoning decisions, reviews requests for variances, adopts rules to approve special uses, and interprets provisions of the Town’s zoning ordinance. The ETJ Alternate member serves when regular Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) members are unavailable and ensures representation of the Extraterritorial Jurisdiction. This role helps uphold fair and consistent application of land use regulations. Meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 3:00 p.m.
Town of Troutman Design Review Board (DRB)
Voluntary Appointed Position-$0.00 Annually
Position: Alternate (Inside)
Term Length: 2 Years
Overview & Purpose: The Design Review Board reviews proposed development and redevelopment projects for compliance with adopted design standards and architectural guidelines. The Board reviews and recommends proposals for building facades and alternative landscaping plans for multi-family and non-residential development. Alternate members support the Board’s work by participating when regular members are absent and by providing additional technical or professional insight. Meets on the first Thursday of every month at 3:30 p.m.
Town of Troutman Planning & Zoning Board (P&Z Board)
Voluntary Appointed Position-$0.00 Annually
Position: ETJ Member
Term Length: 3 Years
Overview & Purpose: The Planning & Zoning Board advises the Town Council on land use matters, including zoning amendments, development proposals, and long-range planning initiatives. The Board reviews and recommends plans for new neighborhoods, text changes for zoning and subdivision laws, property rezoning, transportation improvements, and short- and long-term land use plans. The Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) member represents residents and property owners in the Extraterritorial Jurisdiction. Meets on the fourth Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
