Blakely Reese Mayhew, 23, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Blakely was born on December 10, 2002, to Kevin Mayhew and Sherry Plyler Mayhew of Mooresville, N.C. After graduating high school, Blakely attended Pinnacle Institute of Cosmetology, where she succeeded and earned her license to become a beautician. Blakely loved to do hair and capture the final masterpiece each time by snapping a picture. She especially loved doing highlights but coloring hair was her favorite.
On September 3, 2019, she became a mommy to two precious twin boys — Kaiser and Kasen. This was one of the happiest days of her life. She loved them both beyond words.
Blakely attended Kannapolis Church of God and thoroughly enjoyed being involved with Vacation Bible School and anything else she could help out with.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kasen Grey Mayhew, who was born with angel wings. “I will hold you in my heart, until I hold you in Heaven” was engraved on a necklace she had. I’m sure Jesus handed him to her when he welcomed her into Heaven.
Along with her parents, left to cherish her memory is her son Kaiser Blake Mayhew, who was her pride and joy. Kaiser always enjoyed doing fun things with his Mommy, as he so lovingly called her; he would go to work with her, too, and sweep up after her clients, helping his Mommy as she was growing her business.
She also leaves behind her sister, Avery Mayhew, and her brother, Mason Mayhew, who will miss her greatly.
Left also to cherish her memory are her grandparents, Winston and Janice Mayhew and Ricky and Debbie Overcash all of Cornelius, N.C. Blakely also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, friends and clients that loved her so very much.
Blakely was a people person and never met a stranger. She was always wearing a smile, full of life and loved to make you laugh. Blakely was a ray of sunshine on any cloudy day. She loved family gatherings, but she also was a lover of Halloween and Christmas, Tom & Jerry cartoons, and her Granny Janny’s spaghetti and banana nut cake! But on top of it all, Blakely loved her sushi and crab legs!
We will always hold our “Bakey” in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, N.C. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Greg Sloop officiating. Immediately following the service, Blakely will be laid to rest at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
