Ralph Lionel Holmes Jr., affectionately known as “Junebug” and “Hotdog,” entered eternal rest on January 24, 2026, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 4, 1950, and was the beloved son of the late Ralph Lionel Holmes Sr. and Mary Alice Davidson Holmes, and the devoted husband of Odessa Sherlene Turner Holmes.

In addition to his parents, Ralph Lionel Holmes Sr. and Mary Alice Davidson Holmes, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Louise Holmes Williams, and brother-in-law, Freddie Lee Williams.

In addition to his wife Odessa Sherlene Turner Holmes, he leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his children, Sean Cloud (Sharon) of Charlotte, N.C., Ernie Davidson (Pam) of Greensboro, N.C., LaKisa Peet Dobson (James) of Greensboro, N.C., Torrey Harrison (Crystal) of Charlotte, N.C., and Colby Holmes of Statesville, N.C.; one sister, Evelyn Diane Clarke of Statesville, N.C.; two brothers, Terry Holmes, and Keith (Diane) Holmes, all of Statesville, N.C.; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, the United House of Prayer family, neighbors and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the United House of Prayer. Visitation will take place at the church from 12 noon until 1 p.m., and burial will follow at Belmont Cemetery in Statesville.
