
Farris Ervin entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on February 7, 2026, at 5:45 p.m. He was born on July 23, 1931, in Rowan County, N.C.
A long-time resident of the Troutman and Mooresville area, Farris faithfully served his country in the Army as a Military Policeman during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked at Burlington Industries and retired before establishing his own venture, Farris Ervin Enterprises in Troutman, N.C. Known throughout the community for his kindness, generosity, cooking, and sincere empathy, his “shop” became a cherished gathering spot and haven for many.
Farris was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Lois Waugh Ervin; his parents, Farris Franklin and Lessie Howard Ervin; his sons, Scott and Craig Ervin; his grandchild, Morgen Ervin; and his siblings, Raymond Ervin, Howard Ervin, Ethel Poteet, Eursley Anders, Evelyn Ramey, Marie Ridenhour, Barbara (Bobbie) Ridenhour, Darlene Taylor, and Shirley Mundy.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Benfield Starks; his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Mayberry Ervin; his remaining grandchildren, Seth Ervin (Janet) and Olivia Ervin Lenderman (Matthew); and his great-grandsons, Jack Ervin and Teddy Ervin, who will all cherish his memory.
Farris also leaves behind two sisters, Carolyn Souther (Vernon), and Marcia Radford (Bill), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Bethlehem Methodist Church, 607 Bethlehem Road, Statesville, NC 28677. Funeral services will follow at the church officiated by Richard Conrod. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery.
