FROM STAFF REPORTS

A local veterans group has promised to match up to $10,000 in community donations to support three nonprofits’ efforts to provide housing solutions for homeless veterans in Iredell County.

Purple Heart Homes is donating two tiny homes to Fifth Street Ministries, and the Piedmont Veterans Assistance Council (PVAC) is providing financial support for the initiative. PVAC has promised to match community contributions up to $10,000.

Fifth Street Ministries, which announced the community challenge in a news release Monday, will provide case management and additional services to the veterans who live in the tiny homes.

The community’s support — along with the donor’s match — will help ensure the project is successful.

“We are all very excited about this collaboration and the impact we will have together in our community!” Amy Freeze, director of development for Fifth Street, said in the news release.
