A convicted felon who was released on bond in early August following his arrest faces numerous new felony charges following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Andrew Steven Coleman, 33, in a news release on Tuesday.

ICSO deputies began an investigation on August 12 after responding to a report of a larceny of a motor vehicle from a business of Old Mountain Road in western Iredell County, Campbell said.

While deputies arrived at the  scene, they discovered the vehicle had been dropped off at the business the night before by the owner, according to the news release. When the deputies interviewed the owner, they learned there was also a firearm inside of the vehicle, Campbell said.

Witnesses near the scene were located and interviewed. While canvassing the area, deputies located a dirt bike in a nearby wooded area. The dirt bike had been stolen from a nearby residence on the same night, according to the news release.

Detective Patrick Irwin was assigned to investigate the cases.

On August 19, the stolen vehicle was located in Surry County at an exit off of Interstate 77, Campbell said. Detective Irwin processed the vehicle for evidence.

Based on the evidence located in the vehicle, Irwin identified Coleman as the suspect and obtained felony warrants for his arrest.

Coleman was arrested on August 24 and taken to the Iredell County Detention center, where he was charged with Felony Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny of a Firearm, Misdemeanor Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Misdemeanor Failure to Appear. Magistrate Thompson issued a $31,000 secured bond.

Coleman had been released on bond earlier in August after he was arrested and charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny of a Firearm, and Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
