Special to IFN
Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont is seeking adults who are ready to mentor the next generation of adventurers, scientists, innovators and leaders to become a Girl Scout volunteer for the new troop year, which kicked off on October 1.
A free resource is available for new Girl Scout Daisy and Brownie troop leaders who guide girls in kindergarten through third grade. The Girl Scout Experience Box is a monthly delivery of a supply box that includes everything needed to have fun and fulfilling troop meetings like thoughtful script suggestions, step-by-step instructions and ready-to-go supplies so volunteers can spend less time planning and more time building connections.
“Volunteers are essential to Girl Scouts as they encourage girls to try new things, motivate them to achieve their goals and provide a safe space to be themselves,” said Jaclyn Johnson, chief mission delivery officer of Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont. “The Girl Scout Experience Box is a valuable resource for volunteers and will support them throughout their troop leader journey so they can focus on helping the girls have fun and build friendships.”
New troops will receive a welcome box and up to seven monthly themed boxes, depending on the troop’s start date. This resource is available in English and Spanish so more families can experience the benefits of Girl Scout programs, including STEM, outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship.
Volunteers also experience the benefits of Girl Scouting. In addition to more family time and trying new things together, adult members can access networking and conference opportunities like adult learning weekends and trainings. With year-round assistance from local volunteers and council staff members, leaders will be guided through each step of the program and have a network of support with resources, training and connections. Girl Scouting is all about the progression of skills, so troops do not need to be experts in STEM, outdoors or entrepreneurship to participate. GSCP2P also hosts events that leaders can attend solo or with their troop.
All girls in grades K-12 and adult volunteers are invited to grow with Girl Scouts and join GSCP2P for the new troop year.
