The Mooresville Graded School District Board of Education has approved the appointment of Eric Babbitt as the district’s director of school safety and wellness.

Babbitt comes to Mooresville Graded School District from Iredell-Statesville Schools with over 21 years of experience in education. In his most recent role, he served as principal of Northview Academy in Statesville.

Babbitt is passionate about building positive cultures and supporting diverse learners through trauma-informed practices, strategic goal setting, and strong community partnerships.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, as well as a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Appalachian State University.

“I am honored to join the Mooresville Graded School District and contribute to its mission of providing a safe, happy, and healthy learning environment,” Babbitt said. “I look forward to collaborating with students, families, staff, and community partners to enhance the well-being and security of our school communities.”

MGSD Superintendent Jason Gardner said he was impressed with Babbitt’s experience and dedication to serving students.

“We feel strongly that Mr. Babbitt’s background will prove invaluable as we continue to enhance our proactive and responsive strategies to ensure a safe and healthy school community,” Gardner said.

Outside of work, Babbitt enjoys spending quality time with his family, running, and traveling to the mountains and the beach. As an Appalachian State University graduate, he proudly cheers on the Mountaineers whenever he can.
