The City of Statesville announced the following facility closures and service schedule changes for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
Christmas Holiday Schedule
City offices, including the Statesville Fitness and Activity Center and Bentley Community Center, will be closed on Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday.
Garbage Collection
Revised Residential Garbage and Recycling Collection Schedule:
• Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Tuesday
• Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Wednesday
Revised Commercial Roll-Out Container Collection Schedule:
• Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Monday
• Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Tuesday
• Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Wednesday
Leaf collection will be suspended during the week of Christmas as sanitation crews prioritize garbage and recycling collection. Crews will begin collecting live, undecorated Christmas trees from the curb on Monday, December 29.
Recycling
Residents are reminded to follow these recycling guidelines:
• Shiny or glittery wrapping paper cannot be recycled. Please remove ribbons and bows.
• Flatten cardboard before placing it in the recycling cart.
• Twist ties, ribbons, bows, electric cords, and other wires and tanglers cannot be recycled.
• Only #1 and #2 plastic jugs, tubs, and bottles should be recycled.
• Glass is not accepted.
New Year’s Day Holiday Schedule
City offices will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day. The Statesville Fitness and Activity Center and Bentley Community Center will operate regular hours on Wednesday, December 31, and will be closed on Thursday, January 1.
