Pine Lake Preparatory held its graduation ceremony on Friday, May 23, at The Cove Church.

Some 168 students officially became alumni of the public charter school in Mooresville

Executive Director Andrew Moceri welcomed the graduates and their family members and congratulated the students on reaching this important milestone.

Moceri also expressed his appreciation to parents for choosing PLP for their students — and for assisting the grads during their academic journeys.

“You were their first teacher: their guide, advocate, and biggest fan,” he said. “Tonight is a tribute to your love, your sacrifices, and your belief in what your child was, and is capable of. So as your graduate takes the stage, know that they don’t walk it alone. They walk it with every lesson you’ve taught, every value you’ve instilled, and every ounce of strength and support you’ve given over the past 18 years. Wherever they go next – college, career, service, or something still unfolding – they carry that foundation with them.

“You did good!” Moceri added. “I know that I am speaking for the entire staff when I say that we are proud of the young men and women who will walk across this stage later this evening.”

The Class of 2025, he said, is a “special and highly accomplished group,” which has garnered almost $8 million in scholarship offers. The grads will attend 51 different colleges and universities in 17 states, and one student will study in Italy.

Moceri praised the students for their work in the classroom — where they completed a total of 711 AP courses and more than 500 community college credits — and in athletics — where they contributed to 24 individual or team state championships and 29 conference titles.

“We are immensely proud of this group of graduates and look forward to seeing the incredible contributions they will make to the world,” he concluded.

Student speakers, who were selected by their peers and staff, were Jamie Lawson, Kennedy Thomas, Juliana Bezer and Curtis Lambert.
