Kim Gregory Clendenin from R. Gregory Jewelers in Statesville was one of just five Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) retail members invited to serve on a distinguished review board tasked with selecting new jewelry lines for inclusion in the organization’s prestigious Buying Group.
“Kim was selected as a representative for the entire membership to sit on this committee because of her knowledge and expertise in diamond, colored stone, gold and pearl jewelry as well as her strong marketing know-how,” said IJO Director of Member Services Penny Palmer. “Since IJO doesn’t buy product — our members do — this process and these decisions are always left up to our retail members. Kim’s contribution was invaluable.”
Clendenin called the experience an honor and a privilege.
“Given IJO’s outstanding reputation, hundreds of vendors seek to get on board each year. It was quite an interesting process working with four other retail members to determine who ‘gets in’ and who doesn’t. It was also quite an awesome responsibility. It was a pleasure to serve in a role that helps make IJO even stronger.”
Over the course of two days, the committee meticulously examined the lines of a dozen companies, approving only those that met the organization’s high standards for craftsmanship and quality.
“We are confident the membership will be excited about the new lines selected, and we are deeply grateful for Kim’s discerning input”, added Stephen Barnes, IJO president & CEO. “These additions will not only further strengthen our Buying Group but also present fresh opportunities for our retail membership.”
