Cool Spring Elementary students gathered on the school’s athletic field for a fun-filled Field Day on Tuesday morning.

Students competed in outdoor games and relay races, three-legged races and tug of war.

“Field Day is so much fun. We get to spend time with our friends instead of being inside doing our work,” said fifth-grader Naomi Beltran-Garcia.

Elissa Harris, another fifth-grader, said her favorite game is “Drip Drip Drop,” an opinion shared by many students.

Harris explained that drip drip drop is played like “Duck Duck Goose,” where you form a large circle and one person walks around the circle. The person drips water on each person as they go by. Once they choose who they want to race against, they drop the rest of the water from the sponge on their head.

Harris, who will be in middle school next year, said that Cool Spring Elementary, has been the best school because of the “caring teachers, safe environment and good-smelling classrooms.”

Student Haumea Fitzgerald said Field Day is about “fun and fitness.” Eery student received a snow cone for participating and trying their best.

Fitzgerald said Cool Spring is unique because there is no bullying at her school.

Principal Jennifer Dalton said that it was an awesome experience for staff, teachers and students. She explained that many of the games are designed to promote physical activity, teamwork and camaraderie.

The goal is to create a positive and engaging experience for students. Parents and the PTO purchased Field Day T-shirts, with each grade getting its own color.
