The candidate filing period for the 2025 elections in Iredell County ended Friday after the addition of a few last-minute candidates.

Voters in Davidson, Mooresville, Statesville and Troutman, as well as residents of the Mooresville Graded School District, will elect new representatives on November 4. Early voting dates have not been finalized.

In Statesville, voters will select a new mayor and five new council members. In Mooresville, the mayor and three incumbent town commissioners all face opposition.

A few races were settled when the filing period officially closed at 12 noon on Friday. Davidson Mayor Russell B. Knox Jr. was unopposed, as was Kristi Madison Pfeufer, who is running for the Ward 02 seat on the Statesville City Council. In addition, MGSD Board of Education members Greg Whitfield and Rakeem Brawley were the only candidates to file for two seats on the MGSD board.

It’s also worth noting that several incumbents, including Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh and Statesville Councilmen Joe Hudson, C.O. Johnson and Steve Johnson did not file for re-election.
