Filing for the 2025 municipal elections and the Mooresville Graded School Elections begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 7, and ends at 12 noon on Friday, July 18.
Candidates can file at the Iredell County Board of Elections Office located at 203 Stockton Street in Statesville. Filing fees over $50 must be paid with a check or money order. Filing fees under $50 may be paid with cash, check or money order.
The elections are scheduled for November 4. All contests are nonpartisan.
Candidate Qualifications
♦ Candidates must reside and be registered to vote in the municipality or in the Mooresville Graded School district in which they wish to file.
♦ Candidates wishing to run for a ward seat must be registered in that ward.
♦ Candidates must be 21 years of age or older.
♦ A 30-day residency is required before the election.
What’s on the Ballot?
♦ City of Statesville: Mayor; Councilman-at-large (2 seats); Ward 2 council seat; Ward 3 council seat; and Ward 5 council seat
♦ Town of Mooresville: Mayor; Commissioner-at-large (1 seat); Ward 3 commissioner seat; and Ward 4 commissioner seat
♦ Town of Troutman: Three council seats
♦ Town of Davidson: Mayor; and five commissioner seats
♦ Mooresville Graded Schools Board of Education: Two seats
