Dustin Jett officially announced his candidacy for an at-large seat on the Statesville City Council in the November election on Thursday, promising a fresh perspective, community-first decision-making, and a commitment to representing every corner of the city.

Describing himself as a community advocate and “proud blue-collar worker,” Jett shared his vision for a city that continues to grow while preserving its sense of community, inclusion, and pride.
“In recent years, I’ve done a lot of listening to our neighbors,” Jett said in his campaign announcement. “I’ve heard the desire for change — change that ensures Statesville remains a city on the move, a city with a bright future where families can thrive with pride and dignity.”
He emphasized his deep connection to everyday residents and his dedication to closing income gaps, supporting responsible growth, and prioritizing the needs of the people over outside interests.
“We must never forget that we, as city leaders, work for our constituents — not investors,” he explained. “I promise to fight for balanced development that benefits everyone, protecting the character of our neighborhoods while welcoming thoughtful progress.”
Raised in a city similar to Statesville, Jett shared his appreciation for the long-time residents whose history and pride have shaped the city into what it is today.
“I will serve Statesville with the same respect and care as if I had spent my entire life here — and I hope to spend the rest of my life here alongside all of you,” he said.
Highlighting his working-class background and family values, Jett said he aims to bring an authentic, relatable voice to City Council.
“I come to you as a simple candidate — one who knows the struggles many families face, who works hard every day, and who believes that real change starts with real people stepping up to serve.”
Calling for unity and new energy in city government, Jett said it’s time for a change in leadership.
“It’s time to put our residents first — those who built this city and those who dream of building their futures here,” he said.
Jett said he is looking forward to meeting with residents across Statesville in the coming weeks to listen and learn, as well as share his plans for a stronger, more inclusive future for the city.
