Former Mooresville commissioner Frank Owens has launched a bid for the Ward 3 seat on the town board.

“Dedication to the Mooresville community means serving its citizens,” Owens said in his official campaign announcement. “To do that and continue a lifetime of involvement, I am asking to return to the Mooresville Board of Commissioners, where I previously served two terms.”

Owens is a Mooresville native and graduate of Mooresville Senior High School. He retired from the Mooresville Police Department as a captain with 30 years of service.

He has been awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, which is the highest civilian award, for his service to the Town of Mooresville and the State of North Carolina.

Owens currently serves as chairman of the Mooresville Rescue Squad Foundation, which has awarded over $350,000 in scholarships to local high school graduates.
