FeedNC has announced the return of the FeedNC Cup, a spirited rivalry football game with a mission to make a difference. This year’s game will feature the Lake Norman Wildcats and the Mooresville Blue Devils on Friday, October 31, at 7 p.m. at Lake Norman High School.

More than just a football game, the FeedNC Cup highlights the power of community and compassion. Ahead of the rivalry matchup, students from Lake Norman High School’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) have been hard at work spreading awareness about food insecurity in our area and encouraging others to get involved.

Both schools are also hosting student-led food drives in the days leading up to the game. Each school’s collection will help stock FeedNC’s shelves for the busy holiday season. As a symbol of unity, the total donations from both schools will be combined and weighed together to showcase the collective impact these students are making for their neighbors in need.

“Nobody deserves to go hungry. If we have the opportunity to help our neighbors, why wouldn’t we?” said Isabella Zoppa, a Lake Norman High School student.

FeedNC Chief Development Officer Bonnie Battalia shared her appreciation for the students’ efforts.

“On behalf of FeedNC, thank you to the FCA for your enthusiasm, leadership, and for being an inspiration for other students to get involved in ‘tackling’ hunger in your community,” she said.

The winning team will take home the FeedNC Cup, which will be displayed at their school until
next year’s rivalry game in 2026.

Fans attending Friday night’s game are encouraged to cheer on their favorite team and join the movement to support neighbors facing food insecurity.
