FeedNC is calling on the public to take action to help feed children at risk of going hungry this summer during the organization’s Summer Hunger Food Drive.
The Mooresville nonprofit hopes to collect 15,000 pounds of food and raise $15,000 to support neighbors in need throughout the summer months during the campaign, which runs June 16-21.
The food drive kicks off with a Summer Party at FeedNC on June 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families, individuals, and organizations are invited to celebrate community and compassion with games, food, and a chance to drop off donations in person.
“Summer is one of the most challenging times of the year for families facing food insecurity,” said Karen Belgrader, development coordinator at FeedNC. “Without access to school meals, children are especially vulnerable. This food drive is our community’s way of stepping up together to make sure no child or family goes hungry this summer.”
FeedNC invites businesses, churches, civic groups, and individuals to participate by hosting food drives, donating funds, or volunteering. A complete list of most-needed items and drop-off locations can be found at www.feednc.org/summer-hunger-food-drive-2025.
The community has already begun to respond. Local businesses are organizing donation drives, volunteers are rallying teams, and community members are helping spread the word.
Every dollar raised and every pound of food collected goes directly toward FeedNC’s mission to create connections to food, education, and resources that empower individuals and strengthen the community.
