Special to IFN
Lace up those sneakers, leash your dog, and get ready to run through historic downtown Mooresville!
On Tap Crafty Brews will host its Fifth Annual Brat Trot 5K – rain or shine — on Saturday, October 11. The 3.1-mile run/walk/jog benefits Lake Norman Humane.
Lake Norman Humane is routinely stretched beyond its limits while serving the greater Mooresville area. The nonprofit rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes approximately 800 animals per year while also offering affordable spay/neuter services. This essential community organization relies on donations, and On Tap is proud to partner with them for a fifth year of running to raise dollars.
Representatives of Lake Norman Humane will be on site at the Brat Trot 5K with a special pet adoption.
The Brat Trot 5K takes off from On Tap, located at 188 N. Main Street, at 9 a.m. Leashed pets are welcome to run.
Additional festivities include B’s Grill serving brats, tunes from DJ Festivus, and an awards ceremony. All race participants will receive a finisher’s medal with extra kudos for the fastest runners in several categories.
A full day of Oktoberfest events follow the run’s completion, with sponsor Sierra Nevada, including vendor tables, more food vendors (Pie in the Sky Pizza with pretzels), the annual stein-hoisting competition sponsored by OMB, seasonal brews, and live music throughout the day. Featured artists include The Singer’s Spotlight (12 noon), Nick Prestia (3 p.m.), and Red Stallions (6 p.m.).
