Special to IFN
Fort Dobbs State Historic Site will come to life on Saturday, June 28, as costumed interpreters demonstrate colonial trades.
In the 1750s, the North Carolina backcountry was home to hundreds of families. While many were farmers, some colonists performed specialized trades which helped build their households and supported their growing communities. Highlighted trades on display will include blacksmithing, woodworking, brick making, cooking, and shoe making, among others.
The program will run from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. While the event is free, a $2 donation is suggested.
Located at 438 Fort Dobbs Road in Statesville, Fort Dobbs is administered by the N.C. Division of State Historic Sites within the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
