Special to IFN
The Full Bloom Film Festival, in partnership with the City of Statesville Recreation & Parks, invites the community to kick off festival weekend with a free outdoor screening of the iconic 1980s adventure film ‘The Goonies.’
The screening will take place on Wednesday, September 10, at 7:45 p.m. on the lawn of Broad Street United Methodist Church, located at 315 W Broad Street in Downtown Statesville.
Families, film enthusiasts, and community members of all ages are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy a night of nostalgia under the stars. Local food trucks will be on site offering dinner and treats for purchase.
This free event marks the official beginning of a weekend dedicated to celebrating independent film, storytelling, and community connection in downtown Statesville.
“The City of Statesville is proud to partner with the Full Bloom Film Festival to bring this free community event to downtown,” said Richard Griggs, director of the Statesville Recreation & Parks Department. “This partnership is a great example of how we can combine resources and creativity to offer experiences that not only entertain but also bring people together. We’re excited to kick off the festival in a way that everyone in our community can enjoy.”
The Full Bloom Film Festival continues throughout the weekend with film screenings, filmmaker Q&As, parties, and special events across downtown Statesville. For a full schedule and festival passes, visit www.fullbloomfilmfestival.org.
