Peyton Shortridge

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Peyton Seth Shortridge, 26, of Cedarvale Drive, Harmony, in a news release Wednesday.

The Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation on June 24 after deputies responded to a report of a stolen ATV from a home off Abruzzo Lane. The case was assigned to Detective R. Vargas.

During the course of the investigation, Detective Vargas interviewed multiple witnesses and gathered evidence from the scene. He identified Shortridge as the suspect and determined that he used a rental van to unlawfully remove the ATV, Campbell said.

Deputies located and arrested Peyton Shortridge without incident on June 25. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle.

At the time of arrest, Shortridge was free on bond on an earlier charge. Magistrate Watkins issued a $2,500 secured bond for the new charge, in addition to a $15,000 bond surrender for the prior case.
