The Harmony Volunteer Fire Department held a Chicken and Pork BBQ fundraiser at the fire house at 3351 Harmony Highway on Saturday, May 3. Volunteers cooked more than 1,000 half chickens and over 1,800 pounds of pork.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to purchase a hydraulic rescue combination tool and assorted battery-operated power tools (drills, glass cutters, sawzalls, chain saws etc.) to place on the ladder truck when it is placed back in service after being refurbished. Firefighters will use these tools at vehicle accidents and emergency alarms to better serve their community.

The department’s next BBQ fundraiser will be on November 1 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out.

The Fire Department donated all of their proceeds from last year’s fundraiser to assist fire departments in Western North Carolina that were affected by Hurricane Helene.

If you would like to be a volunteer fire fighter or financially help this fine organization you can stop by the firehouse or send donations to PO Box 359 Harmony, NC 28634.
