Longtime Mooresville residents Eric and Beth Hutchby are serving as co-chairs of the 2025 Celebrating the Journey Gala, after experiencing the care of the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House last fall with Eric’s father.

“After years of managing my father’s illness and tirelessly ensuring he received the proper care from a distance in Ohio, the Hospice House became exactly what we needed. We were able to transfer Dad directly from his home in Ohio to the compassionate environment of the facility,” said Eric, primary caregiver for his father.

“Over the course of several weeks, we were profoundly moved by the dedicated and heartfelt care given to each patient. Dad was made as comfortable as possible, and we were able to spend his final weeks together in a warm, home-like setting that offered not only attentive care for his physical needs but also deep support for our emotional well-being. It truly provided us with a peaceful and meaningful time to be with him during his last days,” he added.

Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County is proud to be a non-profit organization; this means that lack of insurance or insufficient insurance is never a barrier to care. Typically, the care provided at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House costs more than insurance reimburses.

The funds raised by the Celebrating the Journey Gala helps ensure all patients can receive the care they deserve at the end of life.

The S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House offers comfort, compassion, and care when it matters most for patients whose end-of-life needs cannot be effectively addressed in the home. The facility is state-licensed and accredited, and an expert team of professionals provides around-the-clock care in a home-like environment that puts patients and families at ease.

The S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House is located at 1325 Mecklenburg Highway in Mooresville.
