Special to IFN

As part of an ongoing effort to enhance security at athletic events, Iredell-Statesville Schools will implement several new safety measures for the 2025-2026 school year.

The district moved to a No Bag Policy last year to decrease the wait time at the gate due to handheld metal detectors being used. Based on feedback from event patrons, I-SS has worked to improve the process.

Starting in August, Iredell-Statesville Schools will implement a Clear Bag Policy for all athletic events. Only clear bags and medically necessary items will be allowed in the games.

No Re-Entry

In addition to the update to the bag policy, the district will enforce its no re-entry policy for all games, and all children not in high school should be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the sporting event.

“Our top priority is to provide a safe and supportive environment for our student-athletes, coaches, and fans,” stated Bryan Paslay, I-SS director of Athletics. “As we prepare for the season ahead, we’re excited to see our teams compete and represent their schools with pride.”

Fans are encouraged to revisit the district’s Fan Code of Conduct and commit to #BeaGoodFan when they attend any event on I-SS campuses.
