The Intellectual Development Disabilities Collaborative of Iredell County will host a family and community I/DD symposium on Tuesday, August 19.
The event, scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., will be held at the Statesville Fitness & Activity Center, located at 1875 Simonton Road in Statesville. Dinner will be provided for registered participants at 5 p.m.
The theme of the event is “Finding My Voice.”
The Intellectual Development Disabilities Collaborative of Iredell invites families and community members to attend and learn from students, professionals, community caregivers, educators, and vendors, and engage in discussion of recognition and acceptance with appropriate talk regarding our I/DD population.
The event will feature several noteworthy speakers, including Kim Eroh, coach with ECAC’s ACHIEVE Program; Jaxson Eroh, ECAC Youth Advisory Team; Bobbi Williams, coordinator of Special Olympics Iredell; Reece Williams, SONC Health Messenger; and Nicholas Batley, ECAC Youth Leadership.
Partners Health Management, ECAC, CFAC, Special Olympics of Iredell, Iredell-Statesville Schools, and a host of other agencies agree that this event is a testament to the strong partnerships among various agencies committed to advocating for and empowering individuals with I/DD and marginalized communities.
