Special to IFN
The Iredell Arts Council will host its annual Street Concert on Saturday, May 17, on Court Street in Downtown Statesville, offering an evening of live music, local food trucks, art vendors, and community celebration.
All are welcome. Bring a chair, invite a friend, and enjoy what promises to be an unforgettable evening of music and community.
The free event kicks off at 5 p.m. with The Insomniacs, a high-energy local favorite known for their rap and R&B performances. Headlining the entertainment lineup is Diali Cissokho & Kaira Ba, a nationally touring Afrobeat and West African fusion band based in North Carolina. Their music blends traditional Senegalese rhythms with funk, rock, and soul, creating a powerful, danceable sound that bridges continents and cultures.
“We want this event to feel like open arms to our community,” said Sydney Koppelmeyer, executive director of the Iredell Arts Council. “We believe the arts are for everyone, and this concert is about creating a space where people can gather, connect, and celebrate the power of shared experiences through music and creativity.”
The Iredell Arts Council’s Street Concert is made possible through generous community support and reflects the Iredell Arts Council’s mission to bring accessible, inclusive arts programming to the region.
