Madison Duncan has been hired as the opioid settlement program & financial administrator for Iredell County.

Duncan, who begins her new role this week, will lead the county’s efforts to manage and implement programs funded through the National Opioid Settlement. In this vital position, Duncan will oversee the development, coordination, and evaluation of strategies aimed at preventing opioid overdose deaths and supporting community recovery efforts. She will serve as the county’s lead liaison for opioid response initiatives, manage related finances and contracts, and ensure compliance with the state’s Memorandum of Agreement regarding opioid settlement proceeds.

“Madison brings a strong public health foundation and extensive program and grant management experience to this role,” said Iredell County Finance Director Caroline Taylor. “We’re confident her leadership will help us maximize the impact of settlement funds and strengthen collaboration with community partners in addressing the opioid crisis.”\

Duncan will work closely with departments across county government, including the Health Department, Emergency Medical Services and the Sheriff’s Office. She will also coordinate public communication efforts with the strategy and communications manager to promote awareness and transparency in the county’s opioid response activities.

Duncan holds a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Public Health from the University of South Carolina. Her professional background includes work in program management, grant writing, policy analysis, and contract oversight. Most recently, she served as a program analyst with FEMA Region 4, supporting the Flood Mitigation Assistance program.
