The Iredell County Historical Society will host a free public history program about the Union Grove Fiddlers Conventions on Saturday, June 7.

The event, which begins at 6 p.m., will be held at the Van Hoy Family Campground on Jericho Road, Harmony. The campground is on the east side of Interstate 77 at N.C. 901.

Music performances will start at 6 p.m., followed by the 7 p.m. program, which will be hosted by Ken Jurney, a Van Hoy relative.

Jurney has published a book about the Union Grove Conventions, which were started in 1924 by H.P. Van Hoy to support the public school in Union Grove.

The Iredell County Historical Society is an interest group that promotes the telling of the history of Iredell County.
