The Iredell Arts Council announced Monday that Ashley Jimenez has been selected as the nonprofit’s new board chair. A supporter, donor, and active board member for the past two years, Jimenez brings both creative vision and a deep commitment to community leadership to the organization.

Ashley Jimenez

Jimenez is the owner of Ashley J Design, where she has been designing custom homes around Lake Norman for more than 17 years. A mother of two sons and wife to husband Joaquin, she is a passionate advocate for the arts and has been a dedicated voice in advancing the Arts Council’s mission to connect the community through creativity.

“It’s an honor to step into this role at such an exciting time for the Arts Council,” said Jimenez. “I believe deeply in the power of the arts to bring people together, celebrate culture, and inspire community. I’m eager to continue supporting the artists and programs that make Iredell County such a vibrant place to live.”

The Iredell Arts Council expressed its gratitude to Kirk Lawton, who is stepping down as board chair after six years of dedicated service. During his tenure, Lawton guided the organization through two executive director transitions and helped strengthen its foundation for long-term growth.

Lawton will continue to play an active role within the Arts Council as a member of both the Full Bloom Film Festival Committee and the IAC Concert Committee.

“Kirk’s leadership has been a steady and inspiring force for me and the Arts Council,” said Sydney Koppelmeyer, executive director of the Iredell Arts Council. “We’re so grateful for the heart, time, and care he’s poured into this organization and our community. His continued involvement is a true gift to IAC, and I’m glad he’ll remain actively involved.”

With Jimenez now at the helm, the Iredell Arts Council looks forward to building on its momentum and continuing to create opportunities for artists and audiences alike.
