The Town of Mooresville held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Moor Park Renovation Project on Wednesday.
Standing in front of the scoreboard, town commissioners reflected on the importance of this project and shared the impact these improvements will have on the community.
In April, commissioners awarded a contract to G.L. Wilson Building Co. for up to $10,210,900 for renovations and additions for the park, which is located at 691 S. Broad Street.
The baseball park was originally built in 1919. Additional land was purchased behind right field in 2022 with the goal of transforming the facility into a destination.
The construction on this project is now active. Phase 1 is expected to be completed by Spring 2026.
