A Mooresville man faces drug and weapons charges following an investigation by the Mooresville Police Department.

The MPD announced the arrest of Gregory Adam Newton, 41, in a news release on Friday afternoon.
As part of an investigation into a stolen firearm, MPD personnel executed a search warrant at the residence located at 311 S. Magnolia Street on Thursday after identifying Newton as a suspect in the theft, police said.
While executing the search warrant, detectives located the stolen firearm, along with approximately 7 grams of methamphetamine, according to the news release.
Newton was arrested and charged with felony larceny of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and felony possession of methamphetamine.
Newton was being held without bond on these charges in the Iredell County Detention Center.
