The Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department hosted its first Community Day at Station 2 on Fifth Creek Road on Saturday. There were live emergency demonstrations, including car fires, structure fires and vehicle extrications, throughout the day. Community members were able to watch and ask questions. Representatives of the Iredell County Rescue Squad, Iredell County EMS, Sheriff’s Office and N.C. Wildlife Commission were all on hand to talk to community members. Children enjoyed face painting, a giant slide and bounce house. A hose line was also set up to allow children to “extinguish” a fire by knocking over panels in a simulated structure. Over 200 community members attended the first-time event.
