Pine Lake Prep freshman Mason Madji recently placed third overall in his division at the U.S. Junior Powerlifting Nationals and set four state records.

Madji competed in the U.S. Powerlifting Association (USPA) Junior National powerlifting competition for high school and college athletes in New Orleans on April 26. He competed in the Junior men,13-15 age group, 90 kg/198.2 lb. weight class, drug tested, and Raw Full Power group.

He set North Carolina records for the following lifts:

♦ Squat: 352.74 lbs.
♦ Bench: 231.49 lbs.
♦ Deadlift: 418.88 lbs.
♦ Total: 1003.10 lbs.
